How to Steam

Whether this is your first steam or your fiftieth, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know. Take your time, follow each step, and trust the process.

Before You Begin

Gently wash your intimate area with warm water before starting your steam session.

  • Step 1: Boil

Fill a medium to large pot halfway with 4 to 6 cups of water. Empty one Qi Era pouch into the pot, cover, and let it boil for 30 minutes. The water will turn fragrant and golden-brown as the herbs release.

  • Step 2: Transfer

Carefully pour the herbal infusion into a heat-safe basin, yoni steam stool, or large bowl. Use a strainer to catch the herbs while releasing the liquid. Let it cool for 2 to 3 minutes before you begin. The steam should feel warm and comfortable, never hot.

  • Step 3: Steam

Position yourself comfortably over the steam and relax for 15 to 20 minutes. Use this time to rest, breathe, or simply be still. When you're finished, gently rinse your intimate area with warm water and discard the herbs. Your ritual is complete.

  • Option A: Toilet Bowl Method

Pour the strained herbal infusion into a heat-safe bowl and place it inside your toilet bowl. Sit on the toilet seat as you normally would and let the steam rise naturally.

  • Option B: Sitz Bath Basin

Use a sitz bath basin (available at most pharmacies or online). Pour the strained herbal infusion into the basin, place it over your toilet seat, and sit comfortably above the steam.

Important Reminders

  • Wash your intimate area before and after each steam session
  • Do not fill your basin to the top. Fill it only halfway. You are sitting directly above the liquid, and overfilling can cause burns
  • Always let the infusion cool for 2 to 3 minutes before positioning yourself over the steam
  • The steam should feel warm and soothing. If it feels too hot, wait a few more minutes before continuing
  • Steam for 15 to 20 minutes per session
